Graduation Fits

It is that time of year for GRADUATIONS! May is a very bittersweet month for all seniors. It is your last time going to class at your school, whether it is high school, college, or graduate programs. It is the last time to be in the same location as all of your friends that you have shared the school experience for so many years. All of it is exciting, yet terrifying because new beginnings and chances are coming your way.

Let’s not talk sentimental yet because I want to discuss the fun part...the graduation outfits. Nothing is better than feeling and looking your best on graduation. Your family and loved ones are all there in support, so of course, you want to stand out and have the best outfit.

First is the dress. This is simply the base of the outfit. We will get more into accessories and shoes later. I would recommend getting a classy and elegant dress. No one wants to look trashy at graduation. This is a time of celebration, not a time to catch unwanted attention with inappropriate attire. Grad dresses are tricky because you don't only have to feel good in it, but you need it to match your robe. Here at Mississippi State the robes are black, but you can get a sash with your sorority colors and greek letters.

Depending upon your high school selection, you can match your dress to various robe options. Jackson Prep had navy robes with a red sash. I wore a white dress, but various other colors would work well. I recently have been seeing tweed fabric dresses, and I am obsessed. It is very classy, and also gives you a unique pattern that is different from the usual dresses. I would stray from the high neck dresses because the neck could be seen even with the robe covering. I do love a high neck, but this is not the best occasion for it. I also love the idea of pearls or detailing on a dress like a bow. This is just a personal preference. I am not a huge fan of a patterned graduation dress, simply because it's so busy. Colors that I would stick to are white, blue, and the occasional bold spring color.

Along with having an elegant dress, accessories are the perfect way to spice up any outfit. Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, shoes, and even watches are all things that could pull an outfit together. Graduation is a big occasion, so bringing out the pearls and diamonds is 100% acceptable. A different accessory that might be forgotten is a watch. A good looking watch can really change the look of an outfit. I love my watches, and I am obsessed with the brand Breda. They have watches for all events and tons of different options. Statement jewelry is also nice to add to an outfit. Hoops, or even chunky earrings, are also a fun piece to add to the look. Lastly, heels. Heels are always so fun, but you need to be able to walk VERY well in them. You will be walking across a stage, and the last thing you want is to fall...seriously. So stick to a pair that are comfortable and also supportive.

Hopefully after reading todays blog, you will have a good idea on what to shop for when it comes to graduation! Thank you for reading, and come back Friday for another blog post!!
