Formal/Prom Guide & More:

It's about that time of the year...formal season and PROM! Ordering dresses, getting hair and makeup done, and finding the best shoes to match! All of these things are prime ingredients to an easy, stress free prom. Most of the time, you're either extremely excited or very nervous to find a dress. Luckily, I am here too ease that stress! This is your stress free guide to find a dress and to learn about the things to do on the big day that aren't talked about.

First, let's discuss the main attraction: your dress. When shopping for prom and formal dresses, I like to lean towards brighter colors. Both of these events take place in the spring, so it's a perfect time to display all those pretty colors. Sequins are fun, but recently, I have been attracted to simple designs or colors. Nothing too showy, but something that is flattering and appropriate. Along with this, you need to make sure your dress is the right length with heels. I have a few favorite places when it comes to shopping for your dress, and I always like to shop online, and return dresses that I don’t end up wearing. Revolve is definitely my favorite, but Reformation, Saks, and Bloomingdale's are some great sites as well. Remember that it's your dress, so find something that you love and will feel the most confident in.

So what do I do to get ready for the actual event? Here's a little step by step guide for Prom/Formal. Step one is complete, which is finding a dress. Next up, you need to have all hair and makeup appointments booked and ready. When I went to Prom, I got my makeup done by a pro. This year, since I am not in high school anymore, ha!, I will be doing my own hair and makeup for Prom. Yes, I am not a pro, but that leads me to step 3...TRIAL RUN. If you do not do glam makeup often, like me, then a trial run is highly recommended. I like to do this about a week in advance just so I am not piling on makeup 2x in one week. It allows me to see what I like, and gives my skin time to recover. Along with doing a makeup trial run, practicing your hair before the night is highly recommended too, especially if you don't know how you're going to style it. So now we are on to step 4, self tanner or spray tan. I personally feel my best with a little tan, so I self tan before big events, but this step is extremely optional. If you want to get a spray tan, I HIGHLY recommend Drench Day Spa in Ridgeland, MS. And last but not least, it is important to make sure you have everything else needed for the day of...shoes,

undergarments, etc.

Now you're ready for your Formal or Prom! Both are super exciting events, and a time to look & feel your best. Don't stress and remember to have fun! Thank y'all for reading this week’s blog. Come back Friday for more content.
